Drama TV Channel 143 HD or Not?

The Drama channel 143 is not in HD which I understand as a lot of its content is old series prior to HD, however it does have some new content such as Mrs Sidhu Investigates which is still not highlighted as being in HD so assume it will be shown only in SD, however if I do a voice search it shows you can record it in HD! Is there a reason for this? Thanks.

The live channel is HD on Virgin but not Sky. However some of the programmes, including the one you mentioned, are available to download in HD on Sky. So if you want to watch in HD you are better downloading it rather than recording.

~~AFAIK Drama channel does not unfortunately have a HD broadcast version on any platfor~~m

(Edit - oops I should have read your response @xenon81 re Virgin - it wasn't when I wrote to UKTV a few years ago)

It would appear that at last they are making HD versions of some programmes availble to download via On Demand (which they did not do in the past) (This is 'download' rather than 'record')

I am glad you posted on here so I know that some Series can now be downloaded in HD when we couldn't for older Series (e.g. I see one of my favourites - Brokenwood Mysteries S9 is available in HD to download when S1-8 aren't

I now know to look to download rather than record from the Live Channel - I am looking for to Mrs. Siddhu Investigates 🙂

EDIT 2 : I am guessing HD downloads started to be available from late last year - I found this article about an upgrade to UKTV player saying HD content would start being made available (Which is great news imo) :
