Thanks very much again. Some additional information before I give up on this idea.

- The Sky broadband router will be disconnected and the only Wi-Fi in the apartment will be the apartment specific Wi-Fi.

So, if the Sky Q box and the minis are all using the Wi-Fi/ mesh created by the Sky Q box/minis will there still be a conflict?

Sorry I'm not more technical about all this.

Look forward to,your thoughts.

Hi We have access to a communial FTTP wifi service which is secure using our own password for our apartment. There is a in the ceiling "router" for the apartment. I'm looking to ditch the Sky Q broadband service / router and use the communial service which is specif to our apartment.

My question is - how do I connct my Sky Q box via thernet into the wall socket in the main room and let the minis use the mesh that the main Sky Q box creates with the minis? I'd appreciate how I change the settings on the main Sky Q box and then the minis to make this work. I'd really appreciate it if someone cold help me with some simple step by step instructions.

£10 says it won't work. The Q will try to use wifi randomly if you leave it on for use with the minis.

Thanks for this. Is it possible to turn wi Fi off on the minis and just let them use the mesh they create with the main sky q box?

only if you've given them an ethernet connection otherwise the mesh is using that wifi.

@swindonpete

Note that as soon as more than one apartment has a main Sky Q box (with or without Mini boxes) connected to the communal internet service then every Q box in the building is very likely to malfunction in interesting and unpredictable ways: it's really not a situation or topology that the Q system was designed or intended to cope with.

A really good building router and someone with considerable experience of manual VLAN configuration might be able to work around this, but you're then likely to run into Sky servers complaining about more than one main Q box behind the same IP address.
