Presumably either some router configuration (firewall perhaps) or upstream network configuration applied on business rather than domestic broadband.

Hello

I have been a Sky Q customer for many years and was previously a Sky Residential Broadband customer. I received an offer (via Sky Residential) for Sky Business Broadband and as I run a business at home I took up the offer. The main draw being the 4G backup.

I've recently had issues with downloads on Sky Q where randomly I get a Failed, No Subscription message. I had my box replaced and this did not fix the issue (even on latest software). I called back today and was advised that Sky Q does not work properly with Sky Business Broadband.

I should add that my Sky Q is fully hard wired and wifi totally switched off. Surely this is just like any other ethernet device? How can it be incompatible? Is this true and what's the issue here that makes it not compatible?

More likely that the domestic Sky support people have zero experience with the Business Hub and associated services, and really don't know where to look.

It could be but then that could also happen with any other provider. Sky Q are saying it will work with any residential provider just not Sky Business. Also not sure what happens with businesses requiring TV as Sky Business also sell Sky TV services for business.

Does anyone know what the issue is please?

Apparently it's a known issue. I've been told there is a configuration/software fix on the router. No idea why Sky aren't sharing this across their business. It took me hours to find this out. Now to wait for them to come out and do the update as they can't share it with me.

Sky residential and Sky business have now confirmed that Sky Q/Glass/Stream will not work properly with the Sky Business router.

Only options for residential TV customers currently seems to be either Sky residential broadband or another provider. Or you can switch to Sky business TV.

This includes if your Sky TV is hard wired via Ethernet as mine is.

Would strongly recommend to look into this thoroughly if you wish to get Sky Business Broadband and, for example, you run the business from home and have Sky residential TV. I've spent a lot of time on this and now have to switch broadband provider. Which is a shame as the overall business offer is good.

Basically the port connections, firewall , security and hardware and software I. The business broadband hub is completely different to a residential sky q hub. Sky q broadband hubs are configured for sky q boxes and sky TV, business broadband hubs are set up for business sky TV. It's mainly the software and hardware that are incompatible. Just like sky business broadband hubs will not work with mesh systems which is was a sky q hub is. They only work with WiFi boosters/repeaters. Sky q is a mesh system with there built in WiFi and each box acts as one sending out signal.
