Noisy sky box

Sky Q box replaced a few months ago as it was so noisy, on top of unit, nothing either side or above to obstruct fans. It sounds like a dripping tap/clock ticking constantly and worse when recording or watching a recording. You can hear it above the programmes being watched and even from other rooms. It was replaced and the problem persists. I have put up with it as I didn't want to complain again but it has got to the point I dont even enjoy watching anything due to the annoying noise.

My Sky Q box has just started making the whirring fan noise like a old HP laptop on its last legs.

I have tried all the online trouble shooting and suggestions, with no luck. I even left it powered off overnight (to give it a rest), as soon as I plugged it back in, the whirring fan noise was heard immediately.

To give an idea of the noise, I have a open plan living area and when I'm 35 feet away from the Sky Q box, it can be heard very easily, so you can imagine what it sounds like when sitting 15 feet away watching a programme.

It's in a well ventilated open space and I have even blown out any dust that could possible be in it.

I just hate the thought of dealing with Sky and possibly getting a engineer out, even though I have Sky Protect and a replacement will not be a issue.

I'm going to give it another week, if it does not settle down, I'll contact Sky Protect.

Did you get a resolution to this? My box has just started making that whirring noise and it's driving me nuts already.

To be honest, I just turned it off overnight and have it a rest and the noise just went away and has never came back since !!
