Can’t pair remote as telly stuck on a channel

While my son was watching a film, he decided to pair the new remote so he pressed buttons 1 and 3 on the new remote thinking it would activate and buttons 7 and 9 on the old one turning the old remote off.

Trouble is, he didn't go onto the sky menu when he did this so now we are stuck on this one channel because none of the remotes now work and we can't turn the telly off or on or switch it to the sky menu.

How do we get back to the sky menu without a working remote? In fact how do we do anything with no working remote?

What I want to do is to get to the 'pair the remote' page on the sky menu so I can activate the new remote

That's what holding down 7&9 and then 1&3 should do.

When you press 1 and 3, you need to then click connect on the box that comes up but being on a film, the box doesn't come up so can't connect

Shouldn't make any difference that it's on a film. It should interrupt whatever it's doing. Not sure why that would behave like that.

hi @JD2

First of all make sure that you press & hold the 7 & 9 together long enough till the red led above the SKY logo flashes 4 times - this resets the remote

Once the remote is reset it then only works in IR mode until it is paired so much have direct line of sight of the IR receiever on the front of the SKY Q box.

Using the it in IR mode you should now be able to control the box including change change chanels etc but no voice control etc.

At this point you can either press & hold 1 & 3 to initiate the pairing process or navigate via the Menus to
