Sky Q new box delivery

I'm due to have a replacement SkyQ box delivered by courier (due to a hard disk problem on my existing box) - am I supposed to hand the old box/power cable/remote control to the courier? Seems a bit vague to me.

Yes @Jojowawa The courier will pop the faulty box into the packaging they bring the new box in. Sky won't need your current remote. Don't forget to remove your viewing card from the faulty one!

In theory you are supposed to swap to everything including cables & remotes but as @Daniel0210 points out there is little point in physically exchanging the remote or undoing the main power cable & HDMI Cable providing the new ones remain in the box.

One thing to note some boxes do have different power supllies - most only use a standard figure of 8 cable but some boxes use & need a separate power supply block - so if you have one of these then this should be ready to be returned in case the new one doesn;t have one & double check the power socket on the new box & if it has a small multi pin socket then make sure the new one has the separate power supply - we have had reports of some people not being sent one or that one was sent but easily left in the box .

Very importantly as @Daniel0210 says do make sure you take out the viewing card as you will need that in the new box - we regulary see posts from customers forgetting to do this
