We have just replaced our 2 multi room boxes for 2 sky Q they both record the identical programs on each box is this normal?

Yes. Only the main Sky Q box records programmes and they are available on all your mini boxes (apart from UHD content).

SKY Q works quite different to the old separate multiroom option for SKY HD

All recordings are made and stored on the main box & are accessible to every box - except UHD recordings which can only be watched on the main box.

Unfortinately there is no User profile system to separate recordings etc

So I suppose I did t need 2 Q boxes then one main box and a mini box??

A mini box is still SKY Q & this is what you will have as you cannot have 2 main boxes

The mini box acts as a media client to the main SKY Q box which acts as a Media server to the minis

The Minis do, otherwise work independently being able to watch the same or completely different channels or recordings

I've been and idiot, they are 2 different boxes just didn't realise how it all worked, thanks for the help
