topic UHD Query in Sky Q

Hi,

Any help greatly appreciated. Ive a UHD HDR LG tv. Ive just installed my new UHD 1TB Sky Q box. Ive went to setup and changed the picture to 2160 10-bit which was no issue. Already the inage is alot better than my previu box.

Main issue i have is that ive recored UHD in football and Cricket today and theyve failed to record. I also cant seem to get and option to watch a live sport in UHD on main event. Ive a full sky sports subscription which included the HD Channels for it. Do i need to subscribe for the UHD? I dont have the HD sub for the rest of the channels as its usually sports 24/7 in our house.

For UHD channels you need the HD pack and UHD pack subscriptions.

So im really no further on adding this box to my household?

how much is that going to set me back 😢

The list price for the UHD add on (on top of the HD add on) is currently £4pm

Somteimes it can be discounted but this is usually by taking it alongside other add ons

Hi F9WLER,

I went through similar situation; on first look one might well think that a "Sky Q 1Tb UHD box" automatically offers a UHD picture. However, from working in broadcasting I know that to deliver UHD material there's a bunch of extra tech involved; different cameras at sports events, storage, and various gubbnis to move truly vast amounts of data fast for the higher resolution. All very expensive gear, so it costs a bit more. I took Sky mainly for sports, and got the HD/UHD pack included for a few months as part of a promotion. The quality IS awesome. I stuck with it when the deal ran out, but come renewal time I had to scale back the cost so dropped it again. Now the football season's back I'm tempted again as I have a great UHD tv, but it's all extra dosh. One thought: if you have a lot of movies/entertainment/kids subscriptions I'd say it's definitely worth the c.£4 per month; whereas If like me you only have sports then it's a bit less value. Your mileage may vary
