Can someone explain what the difference is between amber and red light on sky q box?

My sky box is always humming and is very hot, and it was getting on my nerves, so I long held the amber light power button and now it has gone red, and it has gone blissfully quiet. Hurrah. But now I am worried that it will cause problems when I want to switch it on again. Will it take longer to come on? Will it still record?

I'd much prefer it went into this mode than the noisy amber mode when we turn it off, as I am sure it is using less power too, and the peace and quiet is lovely. But I wonder if it is possible to set it to do that and at what expense?

Red light is Eco mode. In this mode it won't record and will take longer to switch on, also any mini boxes won't work.

thank you for your speedy reply. So I could put it in this mode manually by long pressing the button if I want some peace and quiet and know nothing needs recording, but must turn it on again before any recordings will happen?

Can I just turn it back on in the usual way?

Yes you can switch it to this mode whenever you like by holding down the power button on the box for about 10 seconds.

And yes you can start up the box the usual way by pressing the power or home buttons on the remote, but it will take about 5 minutes to start up.
