I wish to cancel my Sky Max HD, which I was told I could stop anytime.

You can't cancel HD for just one channel. You'd have to cancel all HD viewing/recording.

You would need to cancel the HD package which I presume is what you mean and you can't do that via here. You need to contact Sky and give them 31 days notice to cancel it, so you can either call or use the messaging service to do this.
