SQY Q Box does not remember BT wifi password

I've had to switch to a Wi-Fi connection to my Sky Q box. It seems that Sky Q box does not remember the password for my BT wifi. It's such a painfully slow method for selecting all the letters and numbers to enter. So it's so annoying to find the following day I have to do the same again. I note that this subject has been raised a number of times before .

Any 5GHz steering enabled?

Have you disabled BT Smart connect?

It is always a good idea to disable "smart" although if you have a smarthub2 BT don't make it easy for you. Instructions at the bottom of this post.

I had a V2 box, the one with the separate power unit, and this always gave me problems with passwords. In the end I used a powerline LAN extender, this fooled it into thinking it was connected by Ethernet and never needed a password again.

To turn off smart.

If you log on as admin enter the password then open another browser tag and use this link http://192.168.1.254/smart_setup.htm

You can turn it on/off there.

Thanks for replies but my BT Snart Hub 2 does not show smart. I believe that the latest firmware has it removed

@DaveydeeOnce you have the dashboard open in advanced settings you need to open another tab using the link I gave. I have just tried this from a PC and it worked.

Did you use your admin password to get into advanced settings. Once you are in the hub go into wireless or similar and use your password then the link I gave. I have posted a screen shot, it needs approval before it shows.
