Over the last week, every morning, the Sky Q is updating - is this normal?

New Q firmware is released every few months, and once applied shouldn't create any notifications. Getting something every morning would be an error, and typically indicates that an update has misfired.

Is it possible that what you are seeing is actually a smart television operating system update message?

Thanks for responding but no, it's not the TV.
The Sky Q box has been actively doing something, every morning and cannot be accessed or TV watched until completed.

Is this in the early hours of the morning? The box automatically re-starts every day & it could be this that you are seeing

@Invisiblename - thanks for your input! It seems to happen every morning but the box is whirring really loudly for a very long time. I was used to update happening in the early hours but, lately, it's anytime up until 09:00

That sounds more like a fault. The reboot will happen at 05:45 and will only take a moment or two, nothing should still be happening at 09:00.
