Are the sky q remotes with voice control infrared, Bluetooth or both ?

Just wondering if the sky q remotes with the blue button use infrared or Bluetooth or a mixture of both? Thank you

hi @Beccss1995

To use Voice control & when they are paired they are bluetooth.

Until they are paired they use infrared & can be reset once paired to use infrared but in normal use they use Bluetooth assuming they are paired

They use infrared for the TV sound etc

I just thought I'd ask is there a specific reason you are asking -such as having problems or wishing to place the Q box out of sight ?

Hi @nigea99 thank you so much for your response 🙂 I was just wondering if it was infrared as my little boy has a bad habit of playing with the remote shining the remote at his face when I'm not looking ( caught him doing it earlier) so was just seeing if the remote would be emitting infrared at his eyes or whether it would just be emitting Bluetooth signals, reassuring to know it would only be if he is messing with the volume

buttons or the on off switch button on the remote and the rest of the time it would be Bluetooth, thank you for your help 🙂

There is IR output, but many orders of magnitude less than the giant unregulated fusion reactor which we are orbiting ; )
