Moving to a retirement flat

I'm moving from my house to a retirement home in the near future. I've been told the flats have access to Sky. However, I have Sky Q and I wanted to check if Sky Q will work when I request a move. I remember the engineer changed something on my dish when I changed from Sky to Sky Q. The retirement flats are [content removed]

I'd suggest asking the Residents Association or the buildings management team if their communal,system supports Sky Q.

@Mark39 Thanks Mark, I have and they only knew is was Sky, they suggested calling Sky, easier said than done.😊

Many communal systems are capable although probably most are not usable straight away for each apartment / residence - see para. below.

Some do already have modern equipment capable of supporting both SKY HD & SKY Q boxes - but these are probably in the minority

For others, providing the signals are strong enough and there is room in the communal system & with the owner's permission, the specially trained SKY MDU (Multiple Dwelling Unit) engineers fit an 'adapter' that convert the signals into those that can be used by SKY Q (known as SCR)

SKY probably only know if they have already installed SKY Q at that location

@EPMH28 If the present communal Integrated Reception System (IRS) cannot already support Sky Q receivers, then, if the 'quality' of reception provided is adequate (the Modulation Error Ratio of each satellite transponder signal achieves a measured value of at least 11 dB), and with the agreement of the management, a Sky Multiple Development Unit (MDU) trained engineer should probably be able to devise a way to install a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor in order to provide your flat with a compatible feed for your Sky Q receiver.

If the management company of your new retirement flat require further information then page 5 of this document should be adequate.
