Bomaker soundbar - How do I get my sky q remote to work the volume?

I've been given a secondhand Bomaker soundbar to use as our usual orbitsound soundbar stopped working after a power cut. I have connected it using the optical cable ( HDMI is not an option with the age of the soundbar) I'd like to control the volume with my sky q remote . I previously linked the orbitsound one using the Phillips code but Bomaker just doesn't respond to any of the 48 options. Am I now going to have to use 2 remotes ?

Did you try the Category Other brands

during the remote setup ?

I have just retried the 68 options on "other brands" but to no avail 😞

Would it make a difference if I attached the optical cable from Sky Q to soundbar as opposed to TV to soundbar ?
I tried it earlier and it didn't work but if you have any other ideas ?

If the relevant codes are not in the Q remote database there is nothing you can do @Creggansmummy
