Poker Face UHD episodes “missing”

Poker Face UHD episodes “missing”

i put missing in speech marks to ask if this is a deliberate act to force upon the advertising on us as we know Sky don't want any shows without an ad inside to ruin the enjoyment of it

only episodes 1 , 7 8 & 10 are UHD.

is this Sky being inept at doing their job?

is this Sky deliberately giving us a bloated ad laden version of a TV show?

the sooner they get swallowed up by an ad free competitor the better

or go bust

either is fine with me.

I've seen this too. Does seem strange the selection of episodes that are available and certainly not the first time UHD+ versions haven't been ready when advertised.

Previous times this has been an issue, it has been claimed it takes longer to encode/upload the larger versions but I'm still amazed the files wouldn't be sitting there just waiting to be enabled at launch (or whatever terminology you want to use).

I think it's just general ineptitude. It was announced weeks ago that Poker Face was finally coming to Sky.

It's been a couple of months at least since the season finished on Peacock USA too and it was streamed in 4K with HDR and looked and sounded excellent.

It's pretty standard practise for Sky to muck up these kind of transfers, speeding everything up to 25fps and converting to HLG is something they've been doing quite badly for years.

People have found contacting Sky to be an extremely difficult process and they simply won't or can't help.

Are Sky only interested in taking your money and not that much on delivering the service you pay for.

They seem to work of the principle of doing the bare minimum to keep you paying too money.

Also knowing the lack of a viable alternative is their biggest asset.

Their slogan should maybe be

Sky, we believe in the minimum requirements being just about met.

@seandrews Considering I posted an e-mail address for viewer relations not difficult at all to contact them is it ?

Viewer relations are the people to contact if tere is a problem with programme content if they are not informed then they cannot do anything about it and how long does it take to send an e-mail to them

I noticed this yesterday as well. Then, there were 6 episodes in HD & 4 in UHD. Today it is 5 & 5, so if it continues at the same rate we should have them all in UHD by Thursday. I agree with others on here, it is very odd that not all episodes were ready to go in UHD yesterday, Sky knew they were all going to be made available on the same day so why are we seeing this mess yet again?

I suspect it won't be soon as it seems that they are a slave to the advertising industry.

would be nice for Comcast to tell us why they refuse or are unable for whatever reasons to have an advertisement free service to subscribe to?

It's a money grab because they rely on ad money and UHD doesn't carry ads.

they have a different business model to Amazon Apple Netflix Paramount Disney & ITV

they clearly see people that use their services as cash cows and have no respect for people or interest in developing their hardware software or user experience

if they get bought by a proper TV company I'd be happy

comcast beating Disney was the worst thing that ever happened to Sky.
murdoch at least knew what customers wanted.
we were told about Comcast and their reputation and they have lived upto it and more.

All business decisions and all aside. If you do accept that it's a slowness issue (eg another episode appeared in UHD after this thread started), I'm not sure why there's this random order to episodes appearing.

If they really can't be ready for when they are advertised to be available, could they not appear in watch order 1,2,3?

It's fairly easy to surmise due to the random number of episodes uploaded so far it's simply either a technical issue or just them being a bit crap to upload the relevant episodes and not some long winded conspiracy to get you to see a few advertisements.

And I would just say that it might be a tad premature to assume it's only Sky/Comcast who are devious enough to get you to see ads... they're all building ad supported businesses and don't be shocked to see ad-free options rise in price as the players attempt to drive more customers to the ad supported tiers (which can actually be far more lucrative to them)...

Ad supported options are on top of the existing ad free options.

Sky do not have an ad free option of any kind to watch their content.

That is an issue that will drive many to other streaming services such as those previously mentioned. It's Comcast/Skys lack of choice which is the problem.

if they don't have customers they will go bust.

I for one will not be surprised!!!
