I am not even sure you can connect it the way you are trying to.

It is worth bringing your other TV near to the main box and trying a direct cable, when it does not work you will know there is no point in bothering with extenders etc.

Hi looking to find out how to watch sky on a tv upstairs while the sky q box is down stairs.
I've bought the two small converters HDMI to RJ45/cat5 cable.
plugged the TX one into the HDMI port on the sky q box & the other one RX into the HDMI port 3 on the tv up stairs. At first I got the picture up stairs but no sound. I moved the RX to HDMI port 1.
I'd then get the picture & sound but the screen after only a few seconds would go black for a while then come back on & do the same again.

Hmmm it could be quite a few things causing that issue. 1st thing might be the cat5 cable, maybe too long or its slightly damaged. Does it go into a switch then upstairs? Could try rebooting the switch. Could also try powerline adapters.

I have a mini box which was awful using wifi so I connected the Q box to the router via cat5 then put a powerline adapter connected to the router and another one at the other end into the mini box. Then I disabled wifi on both Q boxes and its been working almost flawlessly since January.

Years ago I had an old VBox and using a HDMI RF Modulator I took the HDMI output and converted it into a coaxil (like Freeview) signal then into the VBox which sent what was on the Q box around the house via IP. It worked well apart from the horrible 2 second delay when pressing the remote and a slight drop in quality.

I much prefer having the Mini now that it works on ethernet with powerline adapters as its just as good as watching on the main box
