I have 2 communal TV boxes does this cause a problem for the engineer who is coming to install Sky Q?

If you have 2 separate SKY HD boxes and upgrading to SKY Q you need to be aware that SKY Q works significantly differently

Only the main box stores the recordings - the second 'Mini' box works by a network connection (usually wifi) to the main box

All recordings on the main box are accessible by both boxes - except UHD recordings as minis cannot handle these.

There is no user profile system

BTW your existing recordings will not be accessible after the upgrade (except purchases which can be re-downloaded)

if you have a communal system then the engineer is likely to need access to it to be able toi install an 'adapter' unless the system is already capable of supplying SKY Q capable SCR signals

If this is the case you will need permission to access the communal system

(BTW I assume you mean Q box)

@WAYNELESLIE You may have 2 access points but it will be the same communal systems, it's not 2 seperate systems.

An MDU Trained installer will know what they need to do.

hi @WAYNELESLIE I admit I am not too sure on the timescale but I think it may be 31 days

I must, however, point out that, except for a couple of specific reasons (mainly technical) you cannot return to SKY HD once you have been changed over to SKY Q - the option is to cancel SKY completely

@WAYNELESLIE - What I understand from your post is you have two satellite connections into your property from the communal system.

Only one connection is required for Sky Q in a communal setup. When the Engineer visits they will identify which cables feed your property on the communal system and install a little adaptor to enable one connection in your property to be Sky Q ready.

They then connect one cable up to your Q box and via the Engineering menu enable the single cable / communal mode. At this point your Q box will act as if you have your own dish in terms of number of channels you can record etc.
