Sky essentials questions

Hi. We've dropped down to sky essentials as sky couldn't offer a good enough deal to keep the packages.

I wondered if anyone could help, there are some aspects I did not expect to be turned off, so I'd like to confirm thats the case before calling sky thinking something is wrong.

First is the favourites function. I've just added all the free channels to help us search what's available and when trying to select stuff to watch from this list, it claims we don't have access to the channel (I'm accessing E4 in this instance to be clear, it is a free channel, I'm not trying to look at sky Atlantic for example)

Also the find remote function. Where you press the Q button on the box and the remote Beebs. It's stopped working. Is this also a removed function?

Hi @fliss1289 Unless I have missed it, E4 is not included with Sky Essentials.

hi @fliss1289

Some channels are only SD as part of Freesat (which is what Essentials lets you view) their HD versions are not free - I think E4 is one - so make sure you add the SD versions of these to your favourites

I would be very surprised if the Find me option was not available to you - so maybe there is a fault but I don't know

So when I downgraded I was very clear with my questions and I was assured that channels which were free on Freeview, were free on essentials including the HD channels. As if they weren't, I'd have dropped sky all together and managed with my TVs channels

The freeview HD channels (of which there are not loads) are also free on FreeSat- e.g. ITV & Channel 4 , Channel 5

there are some others that are in HD as part of Freesat (CNN is one I think) but as I mentioned not everything on Freesat is available in HD for Free (E4 as mentioned , SKY News is another I know)

BTW I think I should mention that I think some (Channel 4 I think) you can watch live in HD for free but can only download in SD

This is annoying. I'll be contacting them about being miss sold
