Looking for internet signal to my garage conversion (so we can watch tv) would a sky booster work? Anyway I can tell before purchasing one? TIA

Booster wouldn't be much good I would think but don't know the layout or distance.

Best thing would be an Ethernet cable I suspect.

'Boosters' are intended to be located half-way between source (router) and client (wifi device): they cannot help much when close to one or the other. In addition, a garage conversion will typically have foil-laminate foam insulation boards in its walls which do a reasonable impersonation of a Faraday cage.

As @oldfella indicates, a wired solution (ethernet cable or Powerline networking) is likely to be preferable.
