I note that Comcast is one of the main partners in the Matter standard that's supposed to be bringing smart home systems together. Does this mean we might get some proper smart home integration for Sky?

Would be great to be able to control my box from Google Home or Alexa. Athom Homey and Home Assistant have successfully added these through homebrew but an official integration would be great. Imagine if your lights dimmed when you started playback or paused if the doorbell rang.....

@christhedj As Sky Q has been out since 2016 I'd say it's highly unlikely.

PS I can already do this with Harmony Hub & Phillips Hue.

Yes, it'd be horrendous. You might want to ignore the doorbell, and someone not watching the TV might need the light on - reading for example.

@christhedjGet an Amazon cube and you can control the Q box with it, the only problem is that if you have a video door bell is if you are watching TV and someone comes to the door the TV switches to the door camera and trying to get it back to TV is not always easy.

Well I have often thought that progress is not always in a forward direction.

So can I - but Harmony has been discontinued, and it's getting flakier. I was fiddling with the app the other day and it's buggy as hell now.

The TV pausing when the doorbell goes is a cool idea, hopefully one day!
