Cable size required

Hi all, we will be having sky moved to another property and during the decoration before sky completes the move we want to install the correct cable ready for the engineer to make the connection as the cabling will be behind coving.

searches have revealed shotgun cable but the diameter is either 5mm both or 6.4mm both- obviously different size F connectors- so please can someone advise the correct cable size that the engineers would expect so they can simply attach the connectors to.

@Je261 Sky engineers are advised to use CT63 / WF65 shotgun coaxial cable on installations up to 45 metres, on longer coaxial cable installations up to 75 metres they are advised to use CT100 / WF100 cable.

Each CT63 / WF65 coaxial cable has a nominal outer diameter of around 4.8 mm, and each CT100 / WF100 coaxial cable has a nominal outer diameter of around 6.6 mm.

@Je261I used WF100, it is important to use a good quality cable, if you use a cheap one with different metals for the core and screening they are more prone to corrosion.

Probably more important is to establish where the dish is going to go so it can actually "see" the satelite. You need to leave plenty of spare cable also if you leave the spare outside the house at the dish end you must protect the end so moisture can't get in. If I have to do it I use a heat shrink capping.
