@nigea99 i am sceptical that it has anything to do with the trees as the signal dropped almost overnight. We now can't watch any HD channel.

Plus I think it is simply an engineers first response, we have now cut two trees significantly and still no signal. the issue we have now is the majority of the remaining trees are protected so apart from necessary work we can't chop. Signal has been fine for the 4 years previous.

It all centred time wise around the renewal of contract.

Tree growth would not normally result is sudden loss of signal - I have a separate multisat capable system that during the winter can get Freesat from Astra at 28.2 but from spring onwards when my neighbours trees gain their leaves I start losing the signal until I get no channels from 28.2 but I usually loose a few channels first

Renewal would not affect the signal condition in anyway

There can be other factors such as water ingress or even sometimes dish movement if there hve been strong gusts of wind .

I am afraid I can't really offer any other advice - you will probably have to see what an engineer has to say

Continued HD issues

I renewed my contract in sep 2021 (keep with it) and have been experiencing problems with my HD channels since.

first engineer came out and told me it was a tree. We paid for a tree surgeon to come out and reduce the size to where instructed (once out of nesting season)

Second engineer came out and decided it was branches from a different tree. Again we have cut (had to wait for seasons to change) but still having issues.

I am assured we have the package. The signal quality is 70-80

The signal strength is 60

Is there anything I am missing before calling out an engineer again? Can the box be faulty? It is only HD channels on live tv. We can watch SD and download HD

HD channels need more bandwith so might show problems more & also don't generally use the same transponders as the SD versions of the same channels.

You need to be aware that the Signal Condition indicator on SKY Q is misleading as it always reports the signal from a test transponder and not the channel you are watching

Trees in the path are likely to be awkward unless they totally cut back due to re-growth etc

What happens on the HD channels? All you've said is "problems" so difficult to really offer any advice.
