Can you not connect the SkyQ direct to the amp and watch that way? or is that what you do now?

@51monpb wrote:

@ozsat wrote:

It is mainly a Panasonic tv issue but has been noted on a few other tv sets using the same chips.

I can create the issue on Sky kit, VirginMedia kit and BT kit.

The tone appears when there is no audio being output by the connected device - so you get a short bleep when changing channels or audio formats - and a continuous bleep when on pause.

The issue only seems to occur on devices connect direct to the tv set - even if using ARC.

But devices connected direct to the amp - do not get the issue.

My feedback from Panasonic TV was that Sky, VirginMedia and BT - all have the same fault in their boxes.

It only seems to be with tv set-top-boxes and not streaming sticks with have different hardware.

I opened a case with Panasonic for this issue in 2018 - and it is still open.

@51monpb wrote:

Yes it is a Panasonic TV and a Sony AV Amp. We reciently swoped over to a Panasonic after our Sony screen decided to fail due to age so don't have the option of swopping back. Due to this issue we have been using the Sky Q box less and less, so II guess we need to look at how to move forward knowing there isn;t going to be a fix for the problem anytime soon.

We get a high pitch tone when ever we change apps, ff, pause or rw saved programms. Our audio is set to 5.1 outpust to the TV via HDMI then from the TV via optical to our AV amp. We have the same set up on our Apple TV (HDMI 2 input to tv) and output from the TV to the AV amp via the same optical cable and this dosent have any issues. I set the Sky Q to sterio and this stops it happening, but on Dolby 5.1 or the other Dolby setting it occurs. I've done the reset via the hidden menuse several times but it still happens. As it stands our Sky Q box is the main suspect. Any thoughts.... or have we got a duff Sky Q box?

It i also noticable that the audio in Dolby 5.1 from the Sky Q box is poorer than the audio from the Sky App on the Apple TV box, so I don't think it's our TV or AV amp set up.

But on the upside I would get Dolby 5.1 working without R2D2 chipping in.

So the choice is low resolution screen and perfect sound or 4K picture with tone bursts every time we do somthing on the Sky Q. Our cat is now on full alert everytime we reach for the remote.... just in case he has to do a vertical take off....
