Need longer coaxial cable.

We need longer coaxial cables to reach the Sky Q HD box. Which ones do we buy?

Any satellite coaxial cable extension kit. Look at the existing cable to see if you need a single or twin version. WF100 is the better grade, but WF65 may well be sufficient.

Which coaxial cables should I use for SKYQ 2TB box for UHD? Should it be RG11, instead of the RG6?

RG11 is ~WF125 I believe and RG6 is ~WF100.

How long do you need it? Even WF65 should be fine for inside a room.

RG6 should be OK especially as just extending inside.

IIRC I used RG6 to extend my older Satellite feed from one side of my room to the other (under floorboards)

I am not an expert but I think RG6 tends to only be available as single cable - OK if you are fed by a communal feed but 2 cables or twin cable for Q from a dish - so twin cable is easier

RG6 is, I think, reasonably stiff

I think these days RG6 is also more likely to be availble from various sources with varying levels of quality

WF65 & WF100 as detailed by @TimmyBGood are really what we recommend - WF65 should be absolutely fine for extensions

So just to clarify for my small brain - rethe best coaxial cable for skyq 2TB box is WF125? Which is the same as RG11?

Sky suggest that their installers ensure that the signal strength from the weakest satellite transponders does not fall below around 52 dBuV, with this in mind they issued this guidance to their installation engineers back in December 2020.

In order to keep things simple then we’ve taken a ‘one size fits all’ approach to ensure that we deliver enough signal to the STB regardless of LNB type used on the installation:

CT63 can be used up to a maximum length of 45M

CT100 can be used up to a maximum length of 75M

Webro WF100 meets the required CT100 specification.

Webro WF65 meets the required CT63 specification.

Not the same but similar

You really don't need "the best" for this. Esepcially over a short distance.

hi there I moved my sky connection from one side of the house to another. Had to snip off the coax terminators(plug ends) to pull the double coax up the duct and back down the new duct. Couldn't reuse the same plugs(looks like they were crimped) hot new ones in Homebase and Now I have some channels perfect and some not working at all. Help please!!

hi @Woodseythelegen

On SKY Q each cable carries approx half the channels - one carries the channels from Horizontal polarised Transponders & the other the Vertical ones.

I suggest you undo the connectors and carefully inspect them to check that none of the fine strands of outer sheathing are touching the central core wire thus resulting in a short circuit

I suspect that may be the cause of your problems but do also make sure that the outer shielding is also making contact with the outer barrel of the connector

P.S. After checking & re-inserting the cables power down & restart the Q box

@nigea99 thanks a million for the advice. I think the connectors I used might be the wrong size?? They are very loose on the coax. Any idea what size a sky double coax would be?? Also if I ring sky to come out will they charge me? Thanks again

The smaller cable being that most used by SKY

I think SKY might (or is that probably would) charge & may take a while to come

As you can get F connectors fairly cheaply online I would try them first.
