Sky Go officially dead on Mac from September

Apple have announced they are removing Rosetta support from Macs come September, so Sky's current junk Sky Go app will cease to open if you download the latest Mac OS. Do we think Sky will abandon Mac users entirely, or pull their thumbs out and FINALLY create a native Apple silicon Sky Go app?

Sadly I think Sky will abandon MacOS users, if they intended to produce a Apple Silicon compatible Sky Go app I think it may have been announced by now.

Perhaps worth remembering that historically Sky doesn't have a public development roadmap: it announces products at launch and not before.

I totally understand your point. But with a few MacOS/Sky Go threads on this forum you would have thought something from Sky along the lines of "we are working on it" with no detail or dates would have stopped the questions.

Is there a way to get the iOS app to run on Mac silicone, I know I can do this with other apps made for iPhone/iPad, I had a quick look (and failed) but maybe that would work?

I run many iphone and ipad apps on my mac. banking apps do not work but other apps do.

Why on earth would you do that.. Just stop using Sky Go. .Or close your account. Both better options than shelling out for Parallels.

so for parallels you pay £99 a year, that seems a bit excessive just to use sky go. Where as sky have already made and iphone and ipad version of the app. It does not take much to compile it for mac os silicon.

Lets be honest, Sky is, generally, getting way behind the curve on tech investments. Sky execs would, naturally, counter that statement with lots of examples (like Sky Stream, Sky Glass, etc). But the fact remains: Sky has a long-term customer base that it is nelgecting. Sky - and its competiion (each of which has their own shortcomings) - don't seem to realise that it's their ongoing customer SERVICE that counts!

I think sky are doing well with sky stream bunding those streaming services with it. Individually those streaming would about £24 a month.

VMWare Fusion is now totally free for personal use and an equivalent for parallels and seems to work ok for windows arm versions. It feels Lorna long way round to get sky go working but at least it's free......

sky go does not work on ARM windows 11 so it will not run in a vitual machine on a silicon mac.

Good point. I hadn't checked as I have other intel only apps that ARM windows seems to take care of with emulation. I get so far and then it's stuck in a never ending update loop. So I guess not! It seems to get a bit further before crashing each time I start it so I will keep trying...... got as far as inputting username........ have to let it run as administrator to update itself......
