TV licence and Sky Go

I watch sky go at work. I have a TV licence. My firm has told me I can no longer watch sky go at work because they do not have a TV license. Is this correct?

You can use your licence if you are watching on a device that is not plugged into the mains power ie. a phone, tablet, laptop etc... you cannot be charging these devices whilst viewing as they will be plugged into the mains 😞

As @Annie+UK indicates, that's a rather odd legacy clause in the TV Licence regulations which, I believe, was actually intended to facilitate those dinky 12V battery powered B&W CRT television sets being used during caravan holidays rather a long time ago: it long pre-dates viewing on phones and tablets.

However your employer can absolutely set its own rules for employee conduct: while having a TV Licence for your home address may cover such viewing in general, that doesn't mean it conveys a right to do so.
