Can anybody shed any light on why I have tnt through sky , but can't watch it through my phone through either sky go, tnt app or discovery plus app without them wanting me to pay monthly?

To confirm that you pay Sky and not TNT/Discovery to access the channels so can see this on your Sky bill:

Hi, no I pay bt/tnt along with their WiFi

As you are a paying Bt/TNT customer then you can not use the Sky Go app as this is for paying Sky customers however you should be able to use the Discovery app.
