Channels available on Sky Go with Sky Essential TV

Just signed up for Sky Stream (Sky Essential TV) and Sky Broadband. The only channel I can access via Sky Go is Sky News - when I try to watch any other channel I get a message stating "To enjoy this service, please upgrade your subscription". Not getting much traction from Sky support - just looking for confirmation of the channels I should be able to watch on Sky Go for the service I have signed up for.

Hello Lisa,

Could you set up a chat for me with the Community Messaging team as well.

I am in the same boat as BR14. My understanding, and one of the reasons I signed up for Sky over other providers, was that I would have access through Sky Go to all of the TV channels avaible with the Sky Essential TV package.

My understanding was based on this web page:

Channels available on Sky Go | Sky Help | Sky.com | Sky Help | Sky.com

This page initially states that while you are waiting for Sky TV to be activated you will be able to access all channels. Then it says: "Once you're up and running, you'll only be able to watch the channels available in line with your TV package."

I understand "in line with your TV package" to mean all of the channels that are available in your TV package.

Is there any written documentation on the Sky website or elsewhere that would have alerted me to the fact that with Sky Essential TV I would only have access to Sky News on the Sky Go app?

Niall proposed a solution which he said could possibly take a few days to implement. That was on the 9th of April, so it has been over a week and I still have the issue.

Same issue for me. I have Sky Stream Essentials and nothing will play on Sky Go. Tells me to upgrade my subscription but online blurb says I should have same channels as on TV.

Hello Lisa,

Could you please put me in touch with Niall, or someone on the Tech Team in Ireland.

Three weeks ago, on the 9th of April, Niall said to me in a chat: "For some reason when I look at the back-end on your Sky ID it shows your access to SKy Go is false instead of true. I have raised this to a team who can hopefully manually change this for me but it may take a few days depending on their queues."

Either this change has not been made, or some other setting needs to be changed, because I still cannot watch anything but Sky News on Sky Go.

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page. It can take up to a few hours to be contacted via this.

This link explains how this works so you will need to respond to the chat bubble at the bottom of the page when it appears by typing it it to start the chat:

When the chat bubble does appear you will need to respond to it as soon as you can or it will be closed if there is no response within 48 hours. To start the conversation just type in it.

I'm having the same problem, how do I get it resolved? Sky chat via WhatsApp aren't helping

I just spent ages on Sky text chat to be told that Sky Stream Essentials does NOT include Sky Go, that I need to upgrade for it. Screenshot attached. I wouldn't be convinced that another agent couldn't say something different.

Hi, did anyone get an answer to this query on Sky Go with Easential tv ?

also website says you need to have Sky go extra to use with a games console. After numerous calls to the "unhelpful" desk ... they tell me that I cannot access on Xbox with the sky go extra, which contradicts their own website.

they told me I'd need to upgrade to the Multiroom which is twice the price of Sky go extra.
They just keep contradicting their own website.

Nope! I have multiroom and I've just checked again, Sky Go kids does not work.
