Nope.

The UI (menus) appear to require a nuclear power stations worth of power and are so sluggish - the fan etc. is working so hard I'm surprised my laptop doesn't lift off the desk 😉

However once it starts playing something it all calms down so I just put up wth it and try to navigate the menus as quickly as I can to get to what I want.

I've never used the Sky Go app on Windows before.

95% of our viewing is via our Sky Q boxes and the other 5% is via Android (phones & tablets).

However today I decided to install the Windows app.

My God, the moment the app starts the CPU usage oes through the roof and the PC sounds like it's going to take of into space 😉

This only appears to occur while in the "menus". Once you start watching something, the CPU goes down to a reasonable level and the fans stop.

Is this normal and expected? If anything I'd expect it to be the other way around.

I've tried the "beta" as well, but it and the standard release appear to suffer from the same issue.

My PC is a Dell Latitude 7480 running Windows 10 Home 22H2 (19045.2846).

Like I said it seems fine once watching a recording, so it's not the end of the world. Just interested if this is normal behaviour.

Hi,

I have 2 PCs running Windows 11, one is version 23H2, the other 24H2.

The 23H2 one runs SkyGo with no problem, the 24H2 one exhibits the high fan speed and Task Manager indicates high CPU usage.

The 24H2 one also has high CPU usage, with SkyGo, but works fine. It is fanless so no problems are apparent.

I was hoping you were going to say that you'd found that the problem was with the version of Windows, as some people have suggested, and explain how you'd solved it!

Anyway thanks for the reply.

I'm running Windows 10 22H2 (latest updates) on a Dell Latitude 7480.

To be honest I don't use SkyGo on it enough to be a real problem for me, so I haven't really invested anytime into what's the cause.
