Hi,

I have one of the new Windows 11 Arm laptops , can we please get a build of Sky Go for this platform, all the other streaming services work fine, so no excuse for Sky not to have one (and the current app does not work).

Mark

Windows is supposed to run x86 code on ARM so you should be badgering Microsoft.

I doubt Sky want to support a tiny tiny tiny fraction of Windows users with an entire new architecture and all the expense involved

It does but where there is complex DRM and other things going on then it becomes a lot harder. I think it is likely there will be a lot a more users picking up Arm devices based on the performance and battery life of this device. So I am getting my request in early 🙂 I can easily see the number of ARM devices being greater than the number of Apple Silicon devices and we have a native build for that. Thanks for replying 🙂

Mark

You need to go to the properties of the SkyGO app, and in the Compatibility tab, click on ARM Emulation at the bottom and check the box at the top of the window that opens."

Brilliant, thanks. This fixed Sky Go for me on a new Surface Laptop running Snapdragon X Plus.

Right Click SkyGo.exe | Properties | Compatibility (tab) | Change Emulation Settings | Tick "Hide x64 Emulation Capability (x86 apps only)"

With this ticked in "Default" Emulation mode, it's working perfectly 🙂

I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge and it has a Snapdragon X Elite X1E-84-100 processor, and I have been tearing my hair out. But what's worrying is neither of the two Sky operatives I spoke to had any clue that the solution was to tick the ARM emulation box! Perhaps more understandably, the Samsung support person I spoke suggested changing the broad compatability issues but to no avail. But hopefully more people will gravitate to this solution. Thanks very much.

Messaged Jamrg from the messages above and he confirmed that his SkyGo is exhibiting similar issues after the recent Windows 11 ARM/Laptop updates. SkyGo is still usable, as in I can watch a programme with limited/not available or greatly delayed controls and hanging up if I go back to the guide which requires a restart. But for me not a great experience.

Most providers are producing Win11 ARM versions of their Apps/Programs and looking at my laptop practically all programs are ARM native.

Hopefully Sky can get around to following on, as it looks as though Windows on ARM will become a lot more popular, my laptop runs cool (fan seldom cuts in) and has very good battery life (in excess of 14 hours).

As per Jamrg's previous post:

"Right Click SkyGo.exe | Properties | Compatibility (tab) | Change Emulation Settings | Tick "Hide x64 Emulation Capability (x86 apps only)"

This only works partially, hopefully a version that that either works in X86 translation or a native ARM version will be forthcoming.

I have a ne Microsoft Surface Pro 11 and I tried many times to make it work following the advice of this thread but without success, it kept crashing when I was on the log in screen. Then, for some reasons, I thought to try running the app as an administrator and it dd work.
