Sky Go macOS app does not open after latest update.

Opened my macOS Sky Go app today, it did an update and restarted. Now the app just bounces once in the dock and doesnt open.

I deleted and reinstalled, as soon as it opened the first time it installed the new update and the same issue persists.

I'm on Sonoma 14.4.1, mac mini M2

Someone please HELPME!

My Macbook will no longer launch the sky go app. Im running Sonoma and have tried deleting all traces of the app then reboot and reinstall all with no luck. The home screen just constantly looks like its trying to load with the whirling circle but never does. I have followed steps outlined in a number of posts on here but nothing seems to work. I have another Mac running Hi sierra which is working fine but support for this will soon stop and i will be left with no sky access at all from computer.

Hi @SVanns,

We released a new version of the app on Friday and want to check if you cannot access Sky Go because of this new version.

Could you please go to your Settings > Updates and tell me what version of the app you're on? The new release is 24.1.
To get you back up and working, please go to the website and download Sky Go directly from here: https://www.sky.com/watch/sky-go/all - This will move you back to a previous version of the app whilst we work out the kinks.

Please let me know your version number and if this new link gets the app back up and running for you 🙂

i downloaded the app directly from the the sky site so have no idea what version im using. i deleted and uninstalled the app again today and rebooted but still same. on my mac book i cannot see the version as it doesnt appear in apps as it was downloaded directly from the site

If you haven't already then it might be worth trying this:

Uninstall the app 

Launch the Finder, go to the Downloads folder and delete ‘SkyGoInstaller.’ 

In Finder, go to the Applications folder and delete Sky Go app 

Remove Sky Go files 

In the Finder select Go to folder ... from the Go menu (or press c). 

A dialog box should appear. Now copy and paste the following text into the box and press the return key: ~/Library/Application Support/ 

Select the Sky Go folder and delete it 

Empty Recycling Bin 

Reboot the Mac

Download and reinstall Sky Go

Hi Chloe,

I too downloaded this latest version after several monts not being able to access SkyGo on my Macbook Pro and it still just freezes wit te play symbol and goes no further.

Any ideas?

Exactly the same symptoms here, albeit I'm on Ventura 13.6 and an Intel Mac Mini. Suggested fix doesn't work for me either.

It's definitely an issue with the new update. For me, the (previously working) app auto-updated on open, then stopped loading immediately. Downloading the new installer works initially, but then auto-updates immediately and also stops loading.

I have searched and followed all the deletion/reinstallation advice and still have the same issue as the OP.

i have the same problem with skygo (italian version) on 2 macs.

I have also formated and reseted the macs but skygo doesnt open too.

I also tried to inslall different OS (from Catalina to the last one).

Both Macs have intel processor. One is a Mac Pro (2013) and the other is an Imac.

How can i solve the problem?

Same problem here on SkyGo app, italian version.

Macbook pro 2017 and Ventura OS.

I talk to Sky Italy support and they told me to wait for the next app version - I'm not sure they're aware of this issue.

le ho provate tutte per vedere sky go sui miei dispositivi ma solo sui computer con win10-11 e cellulare iphone funziona mentre sui mac dopo agg del 20 maggio dopo aver aggiornato l'app la stessa si chiude inaspettatamente e non parte più, info sui miei dispositivo :macpro con installato catalina 10.5 :macbookair con installato monterey 12.7: macbookpro con installato catalina 10.5 , sono disperato perchè odio usare i mac via bootcamp (tranne air che monta M2) per vedere skygo ed il centro assistenza mi ha fatto pulire tutte le cartelle Nascosto, ma niente ho provato anche con time machine a ritornare a mesi prima per vedere di reinstallare il vecchio skygo ma mi dice "si è verificato un problema di rete" e se accendo la rete lui si aggiorna e da li non parte nenche la finestra di comunicazione perchè il software si chiude.

Hello.

From today my app is not working anymore from my Macbook exactly after the update.

Simply it doesn't start now, auto closing immediately without any advice.

As usual you have messed something with the latest update. Another step to make this app a crap.

Same problem here. Sky go app italian version from Macbook air.

After the update the app doesen't start anymore, only boucing and immediatly closing

Same here - MacBook Pro 2023 - Sonoma 14.4 - attempted to download the app, and the installer does not install any app onto the pc ....
