BBC Three, BBC Scotland & CBBC moving online only?

Marlu-Nyu — Wed, 07 Oct 2026 12:15:45 GMT

There are rumours that the BBC may take BBC Three and BBC Scotland become online-only channels as part of its recent budget cut plans.

Would the channels be missed if they went online-only?

BBC Scotland has a reach of 12% (People watching it live for 15 or more minutes) while BBC Three's demographic is more into streaming content than watching a live channel. I think BBC Three should never have gone online only, and grew with their audiences. There's also risk that CBBC will be moved online only.

Do you support the removal of the channels?

The BBC bloated under the influence of decades of legally-enforced free money, and now needs to slim down.

Within a decade all television is going to be 'online only' : it could be argued this is groundbreaking ; )

The BBC Director General's speech earlier today contained no plans for channel closures, despite recent press speculation.

Yes, but still doesn't mean they won't close.
