HBO Max always asks me to choose subscription

Everytime I goto open HBO Max it takes me to the subscription screen to get me to choose.

I have free with ads but the puck doesn't always remember I'm already subscribed.

Even when I click on my subscription it doesn't do anything, you have to come out and go back in and eventually it will take you to the main menu in the app.

In your MySky app or online account, is HBO Max basic with ads showing under Your Products>Manage>App subscriptions?

I've had HBO max for quite a while. Recently a screen keeps coming up when I click on the app that says continue and maybe later. Continue takes you to the sub options and the one I have is selected. Maybe Later takes you to the programmes so I always click on this. Does Antoine know how I can remove this screen?

I've just started a thread about same thing. My sub is showing fine in the app. It only started happening last week. It knows what sub I am on but comes up every single time.

I can't speak for him, but I'm guessing it's a marketing page to try to persuade you to upgrade?

Any UI choice where the options include a wishy-washy "Maybe later" when I really want a "No. No means no, don't bug me again", and there isn't a "no" is unwelcome in my book. I think you'd have to persuade HBO Max not to do it.

Would be good for some more detail on this.

Does this 'maybe later' screen only happen when launching the app from within the app rail or when selecting HBO content through the rails?

Any chance of a few screenshots of this please.

We have had similar 'privacy' screens sticking in the past, it could be a round that causing the issue in the Privacy & Legal options.

Could your try, when in HBO, go to the settings, scroll down to Privacy &Legal.

Click on Manage Cookies, do an Accept All

Click on Manage Data Sharing with Sky make your choice, Accept or Decline.

After doing so, perform a Sky Stream puck settings restart, not a power reboot.

@lettice Hi. I don't seem to have any HBO content in my rails. The programmes I'm watching don't show up in continue watching either. I am on the top tier sub but it seems to think I haven't got a sub since nothing is showing. If I click on the app and either press "maybe later" or return out the app back to the menu and go back in, it then works fine.

@mr.tickle I am on the top tier sub. There is no upgrade for me. I don't think the Sky home page thinks I have a HBO sub because no HBO programmes show on it.

By 'top tier sub', assume you mean the Sky Ultimate TV pack.

You should see a rail Home>Tv shows>Unmissable on HBO Max

What happens when you use manual search or voice for a n HBO Max launch like saying 'the Pitt' 'game of thrones' 'the sopranos' as some examples.

As I mentioned above, can you try the settings options I mentioned.

@lettice I mean the HBO Max Premium 4 device sub. I have just tried the settings you mention but I don't want to accept all cookies, just the essential. After the restart in the settings the screen is still coming up 😫 I tried with accepting all cookies and still the same. Happens on both pucks.

@lettice For info, it's only started happening since I downgraded from Premium to basic for a week then subscribed to Premium again.

Righto, I understand. That's highly undesirable.

Does the same thing happen if you sign into the HBO Max on another non-Sky device, if you have one?

This is annoying having to click on something just to get to the login screen. It's on both pucks with different firmware. Obviously an app issue 😫

Hi both @Antb73 @purpleparrotuk,

Just wanted to jump in and say thanks for raising this, after some investigation we've discovered a couple things.

This 'activation reminder' screen should only be appearing when you have subscribed to HBO Max outside of Sky. Launching the app will identify you have not activated through Sky and therefor prompt you to choose your subscription.

Seperately we did identify an issue where this screen is cropping up incorrectly. As of yesterday this should now be fixed however if you're still seeing this screen I'd appreciate if you could let me know, and a screenshot of the screen you're seeing would also be really helpful 🤞

@Chloe-W22 Thanks for the reply. I have only subscribed to HBO via the Sky app but have changed my subscription tier via the app a couple of times.

The screen still appeared at 10pm last night for me. What time was this resolved? I will check again when I get home from work.

@Chloe-W22 thanks for your help. The subscription had disappeared in the app now. HBO is not listed under app subscriptions so I can't change tier.
