Court TV has been removed from the channel guide today. We're sorry, we're not able to provide a reason for this; however, the broadcaster may be able to offer more information.

Is there a way for Sky to get it back?

According to what I've read somewhere it was removed to do a reshuffle of documentaries and entertainment channels. If this is the case then it's a Sky decision rather than Court TV's doing.

There has been no reshuffle and non is planned either so whoever told you that was incorrect.

We don't know. But we know that stations have to agree to certain conditions to remain in the EPG, such as supplying correct guide data, paying the fees, etc. In return they get access to the customers who don't want to tune manually (below), and their viewers gain the ability to record programmes, set Series Links, etc.

Great news! You still can. Just because it's been removed from the EPG, doesn't mean it's stopped broadcasting.

(Obviously these instructions are for SkyQ the satellite receiver. Will also work on Sky+HD the satellite receiver, in a different menu)

Settings/Manual Tuning.

"Add a channel"

Change settings to:

Frequency = 11.082
Polarisation = H
Symbol Rate = 23.0
Forward Error Correction = 2/3
Standard = DVB-S2
Modulation Scheme = 8PSK

"Find Channels"

Select Court TV from that list.

Select it again to watch it.

Note that if it moves transponders, you will have to re-add it in the new position. This is another benefit the station would have of being in the EPG. Since the launch of Sky Digital in 1998 all those moves (and there are many!) are completely seamless to the user. A TV station could move every day and you'd never know. Sky Analogue customers definitely did know.

I found this comment on Facebook thread, but I don't think it holds true, as Sky haven't announced any EPG changes, nor would EPG changes affect a channel to be removed.

"Court TV was removed from Sky channel 176 and shut down as part of a wider broadcast shake-up across the UK. The true-crime channel was axed from the Sky TV guide to make way for a reshuffle in the Entertainment and Documentaries section."

Indeed. There are nine hundred EPG slots! There hasn't been a lack of "room" for the last 28 years of the EPG, and channels don't have to be taken away to be moved. We've had many, many sweeping reoganisations over the years, the renumbering happens overnight automatically. It doesn't stand up to reason. For a start, "it has been shut down" is a lie - I've been watching it this evening. And "axed" sounds like tabloid language. No doubt they'll say it happened "amid" something next. Everything has to be "amid" and falsely link it to something else!
