How and where to watch the World Cup 2026 on Sky

The World Cup live matches are split between BBC and ITV.

Later in the finals stage, the live matches will be broadcast simultaneously on both BBC, ITV and their ROI equivalents;

The BBC live matches will be shown on either BBC One or Two, with all of them available on BBC iPlayer.
All the iPlayer matches will have the option to watch in UHD, along with some matches having commentary choices.

ITV will be showing their live matches on ITV1 or ITV4 and also on their ITVx app.

There is a low latency mode called 'real time' available for the duration of the World Cup on Sky Stream pucks and Sky Glass TVs for both BBC and ITV.

Note: For the real time, you can pause, rewind and and ff for a very short limited time, just enough to quickly review a goal, referee or penalty decision.

You can also still use Watch from start with real time and use your remote or voice to ff.

Sky recommends you need 40Mbps minimum available on your local network if using real time with your Sky Stream pucks or Sky Glass TV.

Do remember Sky Go on some Sky TV platforms at home and when away from home does not show the BBC One and BBC Two linear channels. in which case you will need to use iPlayer if watching on your phone/tablet or PC or can watch the matches via the BBC Sport website.

The World Cup rails on your Sky TV satellite box, Sky Stream puck or Sky Glass TV show the available live matches with various ways to watch, flagged on or using 'Other showings' on each match tile.
On Sky Stream/Glass those live match rails will also have a reminder function for each match programme start.

Watch a special 'World Cup Breakfast' programme on Sky Sports News from 7am to 10am every day of the World Cup, with all the usual selection of Sky Sports News presenters and pundits.

Take a look at the extra content on the Sky World Cup rails for more than just the live matches.
Do a manual remote search for ‘World Cup’, scroll with your remote to the Sports>FIFA World Cup '26 section or say ‘World Cup’ into your Sky remote.

Sky are also promoting the World Cup on your home screens, that take you to the same rails above.
Within those rails there will be On demand from BBC, ITV and Sky;

Classic World Cup matches, documentaries, films, selected podcasts (via your Sky apps; BBC Sounds and Spotify) and selected YouTube content.

All above available to watch or listen via your Sky TV satellite box, Sky Stream puck or Sky Glass TV. Some of the On demand will also be on Sky Go.

Plus do not forget you can listen to BBC radio 5 live commentary on your Sky TV satellite box, Sky Stream puck or Sky Glass TV via the BBC sounds app or via the radio channels on a Sky +HD or Sky Q box.
You can also listen to Talksport World Cup live commentary on your Sky TV satellite box, Sky Stream puck or Sky Glass TV via the RadioPlayer app or via the radio channels on a Sky +HD or Sky Q box.

although you have a row for World Cup, it is completely useless because it only seems to show the matches on BBC. if you compare what Roku have done there's is in match order so as you scroll it will tell you which channel that specific match is on, but it's extremely easy to navigate because it's in match order.

I don't even know how sky have done this World Cup section. It certainly is not very easy to understand or very user-friendly. (Compared to Roku)

This image shows every match of the group to gauge and which channel that specific match is on hopefully somebody finds it useful..

(if the image comes across as low resolution I have found if you actually click on the image it will pull up a clearer version)

It does seem odd why the 'Live and upcoming' rail is not appearing there, rather than that BBC only match rail.

If you go to Sport>Football or use your voice remote saying 'live football' you get the live upcoming rail.

I'm a massive football fan but I've been struggling to understand why I've zero interest in this World Cup.

The nearest I've got to an answer is that maybe it's reminding me of the now shelved European super league. It feels like a competition that's been put together with the sole purpose of generating income.

I find myself getting annoyed also by World Cup adverts and TV shows telling me the excitement is building and that this will be the biggest and best World Cup ever

I feel like I am excited as its a chance for myself and kids to watch Scotland in the world cup together. Probably more buzzing for the memories!

That being said I am really looking forward to watching spain, Lamine Yamal is an exceptional player and could show some magic.

Plus, goes without saying... maybe Scott Mctominay pulls off another acrobatic overhead kick.

For me its a couple of things, all the political nonsense surrounding FIFA and Trump which has completely overshadowed the world cup, FIFA purposedly inflating tickets prices which i do think will massively impact the atmosphere at non home nation games, and finally the expansion of the world cup to 48 teams.

I think the latter has removed most of the jepodary from the group stages ( realistically none of the top teams are going to get knocked out during the group stages in this format - and most of the top teams can probably qualify playing their second string team during the group games), along with reducing the quality of the games in the early round, as there is just such a massive gap between the ability of the teams in most of the groups.

Yeah - i mean i will almost certainly watch the England and Scotland games ( providing they aren't on at 2am 😁) - but usually in these tournaments i'm so invested in at least watching all of the top teams play, if if trying to watch all the games. I mean looking at the fixtures from yesterday and going over the weekend, i think there is only perhaps 2 games ( Brazil vs Morocco and Netherlands vs Japan) that I think will actual be decent, competitive games that you would expect to see at what is meant to be the pinacle tournament for world football.

Englands group looks a fairly easy pass, then of course it gets tougher.

Still quite a wait till the first England match.

Did really enjoy the Mexico v SA match yesterday and did wake up in time to watch the second half of S Korea win over the Czech team.

Must admit, I loved the punditry setting with the NY backdrop, that worked well and a good enjoyable 'Sky lent' punditry team.

I just love my football, will try and watch most matches, any time of day I can.

Always love Argentina and Brazil for the pure skill.

France, Spain and Germany sure show often how to gel as a team and often make some great viewing.

Plus of course, so many of those players are all so familiar to us, it's great to see them perform on a different stage.

I rememberthat on Sky Sports News, they were showing it over and over and the Scottish fans going mad over it 😀

That would be a great one for the new ref cam, if something happens like that in this World Cup, so far it's shown some great new angles.

Who thinks up these things??

This is going to be a miserable experience for catching up on games. Something we've down without issues since VCRs were invented. Until now.

Trying to watch the World Cup football on these channels and the picture is jerky (different frame rate from the standard BBC channels) and the sound is muffled and tinny. Anyone else having these issues?

Nope working here. These channels place more demand on your connection that the non real time channels. Elsewhere on the community this has been stated as 40Mbps.

What speed is Netflix showing as you reciving? (Profile pic > get help > connectivity check).
