Is it just me or has anyone else got a problem with the recent Sky email offering champions league game access but the link never works.

Yes same here a complete con by Sky, I contacted Sky as email said "Great news you can watch UEFA final at no extra cost as including in your package" activate link which didn't work. When I phoned was told to send screenshot of email which I did was then told would need to upgrade package to watch I was really annoyed and disappointed as had arranged for my grandson to come to see the game complete con by Sky

Whether or not the link works, the match is available 'free' through HBO Max for the vast majority of Sky television subscribers: the main exceptions are those still using Sky+ HD (which cannot host apps), and those with Essential TV on Glass/Stream because that doesn't contain the bundled lowest HBO app tier.

It's not Sky who are giving it away free. It's WBD via the HBO Max App.
