I suspect many people don't, particularly with regards to the whole hybrid powertrain and discharge/recharge thing.

@HArmoniser as annoying as the commentary may be at times for avid F1 fans, casual and new viewers tune in all the time which is the reason quite often the commentators explain in simple terms the various rules, regulations and terminologies of F1.

To be honest i quite like the approach and wish some of the other sports would adopt it, as its the only real way to grow your fan base and keep them. I'm an avid 30 year long F1 and football fan, but, a casual cricket fan. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of cricket, when I do, it can be quite off-putting when the commentators use cricket-specific terminology to describe what is happening without occasionally explaining what some of the terminology actually means in layman's terms. Obviously a person is capable is doing their own research to understand the sport properly, however a casual viewer shouldn't need to do this and it very much is the job of the commentators and presenters to make sure that anyone regardless of their passion or knowledge of a sport is able to understand what it going on and follow the action.
