Discovery+ activation problems. The URL given by Sky doesn't work. Why?

Received a message from Sky saying that unless I activated my Sky Discovery+ it would be withdrawn. A URL was given https://www.sky.com/discoveryplus-activate. The message in response to using this portal is "We can't do that at the moment. Please try again later. I have tried numerous times for days and still the same response.

I have tried myriad ways since taking the Sky subscription in November to get Duscovery+ but without success. I read of many others who have a similar problem. What is the answer?
