I had Sky Sports Golf on all day without any issues so it wasn't a transmission fault.

same old story, sky blames broadband and broadband blame Sky!

As SKy +/HD uses Satellite then Broadband has no effect.

Like @oj01 I had no problem with the signal for the Open so this would indicate that there is a problem with your reception of SKY Golf.

If you are fed by a communal system you will need to refer to your building management or if you have your own dish you will need to contact an independent Satellite installer to check your dish & cables as SKY no longer support SKY +/HD

Edit : This is assuming that during the time you had problems with reception you did not have Thunder or other very thick cloud cover between you & the Satelllites which can cause problems
