Golf commentary of the open

I watch golf with your coverage and find the current commentary out of date

when did any of them Actually compete

their comments come from a script we are now on hole 5 and not seen one shot from the leader !!
In 12 minutes I've seen 8 mins of golf and 4 minutes of general advertising and your adverts

it is not good

I was a big fan of scottie scheffler but it's time for him to go. We are a golf loving and playing family and Scottie's feeling about golf "what's the point" was an insult to all professionals, players and fans. He needs to find something else to do and make room for those that care. Watching him I knew he was bored. It's my observation that his wife Meredith loves the limelight but Scottie does not. Speaking of that the wives and children or schefeles father are of no interest to the fans of the game. Let's get back to the professionals. JRNB

I agree . Very poor. I will not comment on the camera work or the editing until someone tells me whether Sky have purchased a feed or whether it is their own . In whichever case viewers most certainly deserve a lot better .

Regarding the commentary words fail me. The quality has been going downhill for a long while now. Faldo can bore for Britain , that Irish feller is not very knowledgeable, and Laura Davies is , to paraphrase Basil Fawltey , " Mistress of the Bleedin' Obvious "

Please please Sky - most of your sports viewers know what they are talking about and do not just spout off - please set up a user review panel to rescue this unfortunate state of affairs

Commentary Team,

McIlroy & Co teed off at 3.10 PM today,Thursday. At this time of writing it's now 7.00PM and that group have only played 11 holes.

285 minutes /11 = 25 minutes per hole.

18 holes play = 7.5 hours to complete 1 round.

Back in the day, Peter Thomson - who on the Open 5 times - and the rest of the field played 2 (TWO) rounds on the last day and that amounted to less than 7.5 hours.

This arthritic snail pace is preposterous and with the knock on effect that club golfers think it acceptable to take all day for a round of golf.

Would you care to comment - even if it means ruffling the feathers of certain prima donnas?

I am not quite sure what you expect the commentary team to do with slow pace of play other than report on it & give their views.

I know there is often discussion regarding the slow pace of play in both the men's & women's games.

At the end of the day it is down to the likes of the R&A to rule & enforce.

I know on the LPGA they have given penalty shots to some players, although I don't know what thresholds these kick in

If the issue of smail pace play is downplayed - and at least on of the commentators said 'this is just the way it is - then nothing changes.

But it doesn't have to be this way and if enough people express their views then maybe those with the power to make change happen e.g fining slow players both financially and with penalty strokes they players will cease their melodrama and get on with the game pdq

It is a nice day in Portrush with the temperature expected to peak at 21 degrees.

Then you have a Sky presenter, ( Henni Zuel) presenting wearing a wooly hat, it's not even cold, people in the background in t-shirts, gives a really bad impression of the Course and area.

Did she forget her hairbrush ?

C'mon Sky be more professional.

Re the commentary team I don't think Laura Davies is a good commentator- sure, she's a very good golfer and a fine woman but she's not made for commentating- she simply tells us what we can see already - and in rather a flat voice - also Ewen Murray is becoming extremely boring , sorry Ewen , - Coltart is excellent and Beem, Boxall and Riley are good and Iona is coming along nicely. Adverts/inane talk/adverts/replay after replay/waffle/adverts/put you to sleep humourless commentary - with the exception of Rich Beem.
