U & YESTERDAY HD

What has happened to U & Yesterday HD channel.. it used to be on 155 - now it is all SD programmes... If you want to watch in HD you have to wait and download programmes.. What is going on...???? Thanks

As of last week the HD versions of U&W, U&Yesterday and Sky History 2 are no longer available on satellite. They are still on Sky Glass/Sky Stream and Virgin Media.

Apparently a cost-saving decision by UKTV and Hearst (A&E) Networks respectively .

'Sky History' isn't actually a normal Sky channel.

Let's not forget that Sky own 50% of Sky History and have licenced their name to it, so they will have a say in how the business is run. Hearst networks don't have complete freedom to do whatever they like.

To the average viewer who doesn't know any better, Sky History carries the Sky name so is just as much a Sky channel as Witness, Atlantic, Showcase etc. Sky don't do anything to alter that perception by including it as one of their channels on pages like https://www.skygroup.sky/about/content

No, but apparently they can choose to downgrade their presence on satellite, presumably to save cost on what's got to be a financially challenging operation...

However, the 'Sky History' web presence which that page links to doesn't serve from Sky and carries Hearst branding and copyright throughout, with the T&C's being explicitly for Hearst Networks UK and not mentioning Sky at all. Rather confusing, really.

The company name and owner of Sky History is "Hearst Networks UK"

Hearst Networks UK is a joint venture between Hearst Communications and Sky Group, each holding a 50% stake. This partnership operates several factual entertainment channels in the UK and Ireland, such as Sky HISTORY, Sky HISTORY2, Crime+Investigation, and BLAZE.
