Hi, my 86 year old Aunt is a sports TV buff - snooker, darts and proper sports too! She doesn't have internet access. What's the cheapest and easiest way for her to get access to Sky's sports channels? I'm not sure she would be interested in much else. She currently just has Freeview - like me in a different household. Thanks for any advice!

Sky Q can be run without a broadband connection, to a very limited degree.

Some engineers have set it up without any broadband access, but they may refuse/object/delay during an installation setup to do so.

Some kind of internet access is needed for the setup of Sky Q, which can be done via a temporary 4g mobile connection.

You will miss out on the majority of catch up and On demand content, plus amnay of the Sky Q service offerings, all detailed in the link below.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/features-available-without-broadband

Plus, within the last month or so with the launch of Sky Sports +, not only are the extra streams available only online now for Football, Golf, Tennis, F1, Rugby and other sports, including for F1 the race control options (onboards/timing/recaps etc), but all the older red button that encompassed some of the above and were previously provided via satellite (they came as part of a number of satellite hidden channels known as Sky Active) are all now only available via a broadbnd connection.

It would not be a good experience, as you will continually be going through menus on the Home Screen and the many other menus and rails seeing a message related to 'broadband connection not available' or missing in your case.

On powering up you will also see such messages and will have to each time have to dismiss them, once you move over to a satellite provisioned area, like a live channel or the epg/tv guide.

You will need a router/broadband connection of some sort if you are intending to have a Sky Q mini in another room or if you want to use some of the Sky Go options, like Sky Q home connection and remote record.
Even though the Sky boxes connect on their own internal mesh, they still need an active router/broadband to allow the mesh access to function.

That doesn't sound so good. We're just trying to find a cheapish option so she can watch all the snooker and darts etc she wants! She's not going to need Broadband for anything else anytime soon. My Dad must have a similar set-up though - again not sure what Sky package he has, but no internet - or at least no other digital technology using it, still has a landline etc. And he seems happy enough with it - it was him who suggested my Aunt gets it. I'll have to go over and try and figure out what he has. Its difficult talking to 80+ year olds about techology they haven't a clue about and you don't use! I'm not finding the Sky website terribly helpful - guess they want to sell the maximum rather than the least my Aunt needs. I can't figure out whether the sports on the 'basic' Sky Q package would get her what she wants.

Probably a stupid question, but is there a way of actuall talking to a Sky person in person - or online -without going through the chat bot that's not proving very helpful?
