Normally the ONT is instalked on the inside of the same wall the CSP box is on. You can extend the cable between the ONT and Sky hub using standatd Ethernet czble of Cat5e or higher but that is not something the engineer will do.

Engineer visit cable over roof ?

I've had the grey box installed outside on the back wall of my terrace house and the engineer is due on the 19th to connect me up but all the equipment it needs to connect to is in the front room.

So my Q is does anyone know if it's standard practice for them to put the cable over the roof and through the front wall because I hate the thought of having cables room to room. The Open Reach engineer said they'll do it but they may moan. Can anyone please help with this ? All advice appreciated

That was never good practice for a copper connection and absolutely shouldn't be done with an optical circuit.
