Nonsense. Any wireless access point inevitably competes with other access point within broadcast range and all are designed to cope with this. They have absolutely no effect on other customers of the same ISP unless these happen to live next door.

I used to have a Ubiquti access point connected to the the sky hub to give better coverage to the garden and back of the house. However when we upgraded to fibre the sky engineer told my brother that we shouldnt be using the ubiquiti access point as it acts an emp to other peoples internet and can cause problems for other customers. Because of this my brother will not let me put it back in resulting in poor signal in the areas previously mentioned. Is there any truth to what the sky engineer said or is perfectly fine to use the access point?

I was just interested why the 5Ghz band operated on channel 112 and not any of the lower 5GHz channels.

He told me it is illegal to use the Band A channels (36 - 64) outdoors so they use Band B (100 - 140) which is legal.

For a dedicated outdoor (weatherproof) PoE access point, I'd think.

It's not really feasible to legislate against signal leakage from indoor transmitters, although that's one reason they are limited in broadcast power output.

It's been a while since I've administered Ubiquiti APs, but from memory they have both a country and an indoor/outdoor setting option which then applies the appropriate national regulations.
