Please could this be escalated to the Sky Network Team.

I believe my broadband service currently has the MAP-T Disable Profile applied. I would like the MAP-T Disable Profile removed/deactivated so that my connection is eligible for MAP-T again.

Please do not remove my IPv4 sharing opt-out / 1:1 MAP-T profile if it is currently present.

The required configuration is:

MAP-T enabled
IPv4 sharing opt-out retained
MAP-T 1:1

I do not want MAP-T 8:1.

My router is MAP-T capable and is requesting DHCPv6 Option 95, but Sky is currently not returning any MAP-T configuration, which is why I believe the MAP-T Disable Profile may still be applied.

Please confirm when the MAP-T Disable Profile has been removed.

@Andy_J this is very unusual request and I suspect will not be something Sky will consider. Firstly Sky decline to support third party routers at all which will be your first hurdle..While Ofcom require ISPs not to stop customers from using their own equipment there is no requirement for them to provide any support.

You are corrrect that normally a router needs to advertise support for DHCPv6 Option 95 for MAP-T to be applied. Sky use a standard 8:1 sharing ratio unless the Sky hub has a port forwarding rule or UPnP where the servers automatically switch to a 1:1 profile. How this is determined is not disclosed but given Sky's own hubs run a proprietary diagnostic system which your router will lack that is likely be another barrier. Sky do not discuss their network set up with customers, including forum superusers, but it is known that there have been changes since MAP-T was first applied which might have caused the issue you describe.

Where there is a clear requirment for a customer working from home who has a Sky Max or Sky Gigafast Hub there is a route to request. removal of MAP-T from their connection if it interferes with a private VPN but this is not automatically granted. Unless you have previously requested removal your account profile it is potentially will still be there if you used a suitable Sky hub.

I'm not looking for Sky to provide support for configuring the third-party router itself. The router side is already working as expected and is explicitly requesting DHCPv6 Option 95.

What I'm trying to establish is whether the MAP-T Disable Profile is still present on my Sky subscriber profile and, if so, whether the Network Team can remove it.

I've captured the DHCPv6 exchange and can see my router requesting Option 95, but Sky is currently returning a native /56 PD without any Option 95/MAP-T parameters.

I previously used the SR213/Max Hub on this same connection with MAP-T. It initially operated at 8:1 and subsequently changed to 1:1 after the IPv4-sharing opt-out was triggered.

I appreciate that third-party router configuration isn't supported. I'm only asking whether the Network Team can remove the MAP-T Disable Profile from the line, while retaining the IPv4-sharing opt-out if it is still present.

If that's something that can be escalated to the relevant team, I'd be grateful.

Plug the Max Hub back in and go to the web access using a browser (I can only access it using my Android phone browser rather than the PC for some reason) that will tell you the current configuration at least.

@Andy_J when did you request thst MAP-T was disabled? If you have not made that request should be on by default If you have not Sky may now be automarically disabling the profile for third party routers as there was an issue with Ubquiti routers advertising DHCPv6 Option95 while not actually supporting MAP-T. If they have it is unlikely they can make an exception for you. If it is turned on I doubt they can guarantee a 1:1 ratio as explained thst seems to be controlled automatically.

.Whydo you want to have MAP-T in the first place?

Thanks. I've now done another test which changes the picture somewhat.

I've never requested that MAP-T be disabled.

This morning I disconnected the third-party router and connected my SR213 directly to the ONT. It immediately connected using MAP-T 1:1. The SR213 status page explicitly reports:

MAP-T: Enabled

MAP-T Sharing Ratio: 1:1

So MAP-T clearly isn't disabled at subscriber level, and my previous 1:1 IPv4-sharing opt-out also appears still to be present.

I then have an interesting difference with the third-party router. It is OpenWrt based, has the OpenWrt map package and nat46 installed and is capable of processing MAP-T. I've captured its DHCPv6 exchange: it explicitly requests Option 95, but Sky replies with a /56 PD and no Option 95/MAP-T rules, while giving it native public IPv4 by DHCPv4.

So I'm wondering whether Sky is now distinguishing between the SR213 and third-party CPE rather than simply acting on the Option 95 request.

As to why I want MAP-T: mainly because I'm investigating whether I can reproduce the same MAP-T 1:1 service that Sky currently supplies to the SR213 while using my own MAP-T-capable router. I'm not asking Sky to support the configuration of the third-party router itself; I'm trying to understand the Sky-side provisioning behaviour.

As I posted Sky have made several changes from the early position and would not surprise me if they limited MAP-T to their Hub 6 and Hub7 units.

Slightly off topic but I enabled UPnP awhile back and auto changed to the 1:1 ratio. I disabled UPnP yesterday but I'm still on the 1:1 ratio. Am I just waiting for the Sky systems to catch up or will I remain on 1:1?
