Hi, I have just recently moved into a new place and have chosen to use the sky broadband but there is still a openreach master microfilter placed in the wall, are these two compatible and okay to use together? I would just like to ask if sky are able to send the box out to me and I'm able to plug it in by myself?

thanks

Even if you are getting a partial fibre servicecyou really need a properly installed a pre- filtered master socket as thst looks a right mess.

I have ordered a new fibre and an engineer will be coming out to fix new line I think anyway but was just seeing if it's possible to just plug it into the box that is already here

It might be worth being aware that if it’s a new full fibre connection it will be completely separate to that line. The engineer will fit a new line and install a new box on the wall called an ONT (Optical Network Terminal).

It does not necessarily need to be next to that old socket, but it will require a power supply and so must be close to a power socket. Also, fibre optic doesn’t do tight bends. The engineer will negotiate on where it goes, (up to a point), but it has to be do-able in the time and budget available.

Might be worth thinking about where you want it and have a couple of backup locations, in case your first choice isn’t do-able.
