topic Poor WiFi signal (RSSI) in Broadband

Hi,

I have sky wifi max hub, and the speed is fine internally, but the signal is quite low and poor throughout the house.

1 meter from the hub I get a good signal strength and measured RSSI of around -43. But in another room downstairs or upstairs I'm getting an RSSI reading of -86.

I've been looking at what I can do and using the sky max pods should help, but unsure until I can try them and then test the signal strength again.

How do I order the pods as the help page doesn't really help that much. I asked the agent today on the phone can we do the diagnostics, but it didn't end up happening.

if I move to another provider such as EE will I likely get a better signal strength in the house (RSSI)? When reading about this online it seems sky is notorious for a poor signal strength.

many thanks for any help you can provide on resolving this matter for me.

@Alfie292 to getvthe extender pods sent you nedd to have bought Sky's WiFi Max package (see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max) and called Sky to request one to be sent out. The others are only provided oncexan engineer has tested your network. You havec31xdaysccooling off period so if the first extender does not help

Whether the pods will work in your home depends on how it is laid outvand how it is built. The RSSI of --86dBm is not good news as presumably thst was the 5GHz band and the pods use a closed 5GHz signal for backhaul between the pod and the hub. Test the RSSi in the hallways/ landings if those are better than say -65dBm it is worth trying an extender there.

My own home had similar issues and I found buying a third party WiFi system was a better solution but each home is different.

Thanks that's helpful and I thought that was what was required. I even asked the sky staff member yesterday on the phone and they said you can order online. It's a pain because it's just constant back and forth.
