Suspicious door caller

Had a guy from EE at my door explaining that my broadband was going to be upgraded in the next few weeks. He asked who I was with and then got me to go through a speed test. What did surprise me was that my speed was only about 92mps when I'm actually on ultrafast package. Eventually we admitted that he was just getting me to try to switch to EE but I did check my speeds and although the sky app said I was getting 454mps, when I ran a speed test it was coming back just 92mps download. Have noticed that it's been slow lately. So my question is why a there such a difference in what sky are telling me and the results of my own test and how can I get some answers?

Typically because the Sky result shows speed arriving at the Hub over the cabled connection, while most 'tests' are carried out on wireless devices and so are actually only testing the local WiFi.

It's a hell of a difference though. My broadband has been a bit slower I've noticed. Thanks for the reply

Also that speed test was done on my pc through Ethernet not wifi

One suspicion would be that you've either got a network component which is 100Mbs rather than 1000Mbs, or that a software setting is doing the same thing.
