I've just switched to Sky gigafast broadband. It's buffering and slow to load pages etc. When I tested the speed it said it's good, (566.1 mbps ) but it's worse on this full fibre 900 than it was on my previous suppliers 150. I'm still within 14 days, do I need to switch back to my previous supplier?

@Penfold77 first question is how are you measuring speed? The only accurate speed check is shown in the Service Checker in the My Sky app. Speeds measured on devices connected by a direct Gigabit Ethernet link are indicative but other devices using the link can affect them. Speeds measured over WiFi are effectively meaningless as there is no way of knowing if it is the broadbsnd speed or the speed of the WiFi in your home.

Full fibre connections share bandwidth with Openreach selling up to 30 connections on a distribution point withbacdownload speed of 2.48Gb/s so if your DP is pretty full and your neighbours are heavy users speeds will slow at busy times. Hiwever unless your move to Sky involved a different physical cable speeds will not have changed significantlyas in essence it's the same connection. .

This doesn't explain why it's so slow after the supposedly faster upgrade to 900mbps when it wasn't like this on fibre 150 with another provider. Every check done with Sky app says it's ok, but it's really not.

We have exactly the same problem. Upgraded to gigafast and most of the download streaming services like Amazon prime, Netflix etc load slowly or not at all. Similarly on our phones apps like Insta are buffering.
we had the standard full fibre before and had none of these issues. Any suggestions?

We have asked for a sky engineer to come out as it was an engineer that persuaded us to upgrade in the first place. Sky support just do a line test but as you say the speed is upwards of 500 and so no issue identified.

i don't have technical words for this but almost feels like it's juddery. Sometimes fine but mostly struggles with any streaming services rather than Sky tv channels. Makes me wonder if there is an issue between uploading and downloading as it's the downloading where all the issues are happening.

Sky sent me another new hub 6 router, still getting twirly circle when changing pages online. They said it must be the location of the router (kitchen), so I bought an extention and moved the router to the bottom of the stairs in the hallway. Still the same. Bought a wifi booster and plugged it in at the top of the stairs, no different. I live in a two bed mid terrace, not a mansion. I've just bought an Eero router online as that's what I previously had on TalkTalk Fibre 150 with no problems. Not tried it yet so can't say if it'll work, but running out of options. The problems only started when changed to Sky Full Fibre 900. Wish I'd never changed, so if you're reading this for research purposes as you're thinking of changing to Sky Full Fibre, DON'T DO IT!

We didn't actually have any problems when we had full fibre other than poor signal in one bedroom. So the Sky chap suggested we upgrade to gigafast which in theory is a big improvement. The headline levels of WiFi speed when you run test are miles better but we get all the buffering issues I described. The router is in the lounge and we have a pod on the landing and a booster in a spare bedroom so should all be great. But it's much worse than when we just had full fibre as no buffering issues. Happens on tv and mobile phones.

Same here Hassie, no problems with the service or signal when on TalkTalk Fibre 150, just thought the Sky Gigafast 900 would be super duper fast but it's really not

Nope, now i can't watch anything cos its constantly buffering . all devices are lagging and working from home I can't have this. after reading all the posts on wifi strength issues with sky this morning I have made the request to switch back and am cancelling within my cooling period. it's been 2 days and i'm ready to throw it out the window already

I promised to update after engineer called round.
well guess what.....Having waited over a month for a visit the engineer literally just didn't turn up. No polite update to inform us. Just didn't bother showing up.

As ever I called the helpline which as we all know is abroad and again as usual were incredibly willing to help, but have no authority or direct contact with uk to allow my situation to be escalated.

so here I am a month on with my new gigafast offering performing terribly and I now have to wait another month for an engineer to come.

skys service is now appalling and I will now run the contract clock down and leave as soon as I am able.

Sorry for the rant but as a so called Diamond VIP customer, I can't remember the service being any worse than this.
